A Mommy Makeover Can Transform You Body & Soul
- Posted on: Aug 1 2021
With over 30 years in practice, I’ve learned a thing or two. Though my area of expertise is rejuvenating the breasts and body, my years of experience have shown me the powerful effect that feeling good in your skin can have on your emotional well being. This is particularly apparent with the Mommy Makeover procedure. A baby is a wonderful gift, but childbirth is hard on your body. Furthermore, pregnancy and breastfeeding can leave a lasting mark that does not resolve on its own with diet and exercise. Emotionally, it is often hard for women to not feel like themselves after giving birth. This is why the procedure is so powerful because a Mommy Makeover can transform you body and soul.
Breasts + Belly Most Common Components of Mommy Makeover
The breasts and belly are the most common components of a Mommy Makeover due to pregnancy, but aging can also have an adverse affect on these two areas. So, it’s important to keep in mind that you do not need to be a mom to be an ideal candidate for a Mommy Makeover.
In my practice, a Mommy Makeover refers to any combination of procedures that are targeted towards your individual anatomy, needs, and lifestyle. This may include:
- Breast augmentation
- Breast lift
- Breast reduction
- Fat grafting to the breasts
- Tummy tuck
It’s really whatever you want. With my Mommy Makeover, anything goes.
How to Keep Your Mommy Makeover Safe
Safety is always of paramount importance to me with any procedure that I perform. One of the biggest benefits of a Mommy Makeover is that you can have multiple procedures done under a single anesthesia session. However, it’s only safe to keep someone under for a certain amount of time. I typically won’t go longer than 7 to 7 1/2 hours. So, the real question is: How much can you do or should you in one session? As with everything, it varies by patient. In general, I am willing to do a bit more in a younger patient. However, even with a 60 year old women, a lot can be accomplished in a single session such as:
All of the above takes me about 5 1/2 hours, and patients do very well. With a younger patient in her 30’s or 40’s, I might add a breast procedure or a bit more liposuction.
Timing is Important When Scheduling Your Mommy Makeover
That old saying “timing is everything” definitely applies to scheduling your Mommy Makeover. I like my patients to be at a good baseline both emotionally and physically. If you have just had a baby, I want to wait until your hormones return to normal so that your mind and body have time to recover. It’s also good to postpone the procedure until you are finished having children.
If you haven’t had kids and are exploring a Mommy Makeover, I like to make certain that you understand what can and can not be achieved. This is not a weight loss procedure. It’s about restoring proper proportion to your body contour. The number on the scale probably won’t move more than a pound or two. However, you will look more youthful, vital and trim, and this can make you feel fantastic.
