Welcome to the practice, which is owned by Mark D. Epstein, MD.
Your Surgeon/Physician: We would like you to know that Dr. Mark Epstein is dual-board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and the American Board of Surgery with additional qualifications in surgery of the hand and is licensed in the State of New York. Dr. Epstein is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons. Dr Epstein also serves as the Chief of Plastic Surgery at North Shore Surgi-Center and is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at the State University of New York Health Sciences Center at Stony Brook. Dr. Epstein received his medical degree
from the State University of New York Health Sciences Center at Brooklyn (Downstate), and completed his internship and residency training in General Surgery at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where he served as Chief Resident. He also completed a residency in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, where he once again served as Chief Resident. To advance his training even further, Dr. Epstein completed a series of clinical fellowships in: Reconstructive Microsurgery at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital in Taiwan; in Hand Surgery at the Raymond Curtis Hand Center in Baltimore; and in Microsurgery at the Brigham and Women’s/Children’s Hospital/Harvard in Boston. He also completed a research fellowship at the Shriner’s Burns Institute in Cincinnati, Ohio. You may request his C.V., which we keep on file. Your Anesthesia Provider: Additionally, this organization utilizes Board Certified credentialed anesthesia providers, Dr. Adrienne Levy and Dr. Brian Slepian. Both have many years of experience and training and are licensed in the State of New York.
The Team: Our team is made up of competent individuals that will assist in providing safe patient care. Our Director of Operations, is Ruth Verspoor. Should you choose to have surgery at this organization we want you to know that we value patient safety. Therefore you may hear us performing certain tasks or asking certain questions that may surprise you. Even though we may know you, we will ask you identifying information such as date of birth or your address besides asking you to tell us you name. We take a pause or a “time out” before we actually start your procedure to assure once again that we have everything that we need and the entire team is in agreement. Only Dr. Epstein will mark your surgical site.
This organization adheres to strict infection control measures before, during and after your procedure including but not limited to: procedural technique, the environment of care, care of equipment and instruments, and education of all staff in the most u to date infection control measures. This practice educates staff upon hire and annually thereafter in hand hygiene and we follow the CDC guidelines for hand hygiene. We encourage staff to stay home when they are sick. We provide tissues and garbage cans throughout the facility and encourage everyone to cover their mouth when coughing or sneezing and the wash their hands.

Should you have a problem: If anyone has concerns about patient care and safety in the organization, that the organization has not addressed, you are encouraged to contact the organization’s management.
