Renuvion (J-Plasma) Long Island

As we age, the skin loses firmness and elasticity. These changes occur as a result of a marked decline in the production of collagen and elastin, the chemicals that promote thick, smooth, resilient skin. For many adults, tissue laxity is a persistent concern. However, a desire to avoid surgical lifts prevents a lot of people from seeking treatment for their aging skin. Dr. Epstein now has a revolutionary system that closes the gap between nonsurgical treatment and immensely satisfying improvements. We are proud to offer minimally-invasive Renuvion, powered by J-Plasma, to attain visible results with virtually no scarring and little downtime.

Renuvion is an FDA-approved technique that tightens the skin via the subcutaneous administration of helium plasma energy. Helium, normally an inert gas, becomes reactive plasma when ionized with radiofrequency energy. The energy is cooler than that of lasers but profoundly effective at stimulating dramatic tissue tightening when delivered to the underside of the skin. Read what our patients are saying!

I had been looking to get surgery done for a while. I came across Dr.Epstein’s website and was impressed by the website, thoroughly explaining the procedure I wanted done and photos of past procedures to back it up. After visiting Dr.Epstein for a consultation I was confident in trusting him to perform the procedure. With the confidence of Dr.Epstein and the welcoming demeanor of his staff, I knew I had made the right decision. The surgery went extremely smooth with a speedy recovery. I was truly impressed by how quickly I was able to return back to work. Dr.Epstein and his staff even sent me a bouquet of flowers during my recovery, which I thought was sweet and thoughtful. I want to thank Dr.Epstein and his staff for everything and if I ever need any further cosmetic procedures done in the future, I will definitely be returning!

How many treatments of Renuvion are needed?

Renuvion has been developed as a singular treatment that stimulates ongoing changes in the dermis. Tissue-remodeling effects may begin to appear within a few days of the procedure. However, patients should not expect to see the full results of their treatment for six to twelve months. Improvements continue for this amount of time because the body is making and using healthy new collagen to rebuild the scaffolding of tissue beneath the skin.

Can I Combine My Renuvion Treatments with Surgical Procedures?

While Renuvion is an excellent non-surgical alternative to a surgical facelift or other lifting procedure, a combination of treatments may be ideal in some circumstances. For example, some people may benefit from Renuvion skin tightening as an ancillary treatment to liposuction and a tummy tuck. Following surgery with Renuvion can avoid loose or sagging skin. Some patients combine their Renuvion facial treatment with other procedures, such as MyEllevate, brow lift, fat transfer, or other injectables. During the consultation visit, Dr. Epstein engages in thoughtful discussion with each patient to understand their concerns and desired outcome. This discussion results in a thorough treatment plan designed around patient expectations.

What Happens During Renuvion Treatment?

Patients who receive Renuvion treatment may do so under local, intravenous sedation or general anesthesia, depending on the area or areas of the body being treated. After the patient is properly anesthetized, Dr. Epstein makes tiny incisions through which he can insert the instrument that delivers helium plasma energy. The effects of this energy occur in real time, allowing Dr. Epstein to make adjustments as needed to perfect the contour of the treatment area. The procedure can take as little as 30 minutes but could take longer for larger areas.

What’s Recovery Like After Treatment With Renuvion?

The Renuvion skin tightening procedure is an outpatient treatment. Patients may go home with a compression garment applied to the treatment area. Bruising and swelling are expected side effects. The skin may also appear red and, depending on the application of energy, may flake or peel. If minor pain occurs, it can be managed with an approved over-the-counter medication. Most patients develop minimal scarring, if any. If small scars develop, they are expected to fade within a few months.

Am I A Good Candidate For Treatment?

Healthy adults who are concerned about loose, sagging skin may be good candidates for Renuvion non-surgical tightening. The best results are achieved in patients with moderate tissue laxity. Severe looseness and sagging may be better treated with a surgical lift. That said, Renuvion achieves outstanding results when applied to concerns such as sagging jowls, loose neck skin, and laxity on various areas of the body.

What Areas Of The Body Can Renuvion Skin Tightening Help?

Renuvion may be applied to virtually any area of the body in which the skin and superficial tissue have lost firmness and elasticity. This minimally-invasive treatment is commonly performed on the lower face, jawline, chin, and neck. It is also an excellent body-contouring treatment, and can tighten skin on the arms, abdomen, back thighs and above the knees.

Are The Results Of Renuvion Permanent?

Renuvion works by stimulating profound collagen remodeling. The increase in collagen production can continue for several months. While the skin continues to age naturally, patients can enjoy long-lasting results from their Renuvion procedure. These results may be prolonged by practicing good sun protection, nutrition, and skin care.

How Long Will It Take Results To Be Visible After Treatment?

Patients can see firmer, tighter skin immediately after their procedure is complete. Improvements become increasingly apparent as swelling decreases and the foundational layers of the skin are remodeled with healthy collagen protein.

How Long Do The Results From Renuvion Last?

The results from Renuvion vary from patient to patient. However, the results are considered to be long-lasting as they can last for several years. But to maintain your results, you may need routine touch-up appointments.

Can Renuvion be Used For All Skin Types?

Renuvion is one of those cosmetic treatments that can be used for a variety of skin types. While people with darker skin tones can receive Renuvion treatment, it is important to note that might have a higher risk of scarring or changes in their pigmentation.

What Are The Risks of Renuvion?

Renuvion is generally a safe cosmetic procedure when it is performed by a qualified plastic surgeon like Dr. Epstein. However, there are risks that you need to be aware of before going ahead with treatment.

The risks of Renuvion include the following:

  • Swelling
  • Bruising
  • Pain
  • Discomfort
  • Redness
  • Scarring
  • Increased risk of infection
  • Nerve damage
  • Hyperpigmentation

What Are The Contraindications of Renuvion?

As with any cosmetic procedure, there are certain factors that can make you ineligible for treatment.

These factors include the following:

  • Pregnancy - Pregnant women should not receive Renuvion treatment due to not knowing how it affects fetal health.
  • Having an active skin infection - Receiving Renuvion treatment while having an active skin infection, such as herpes or cellulitis, can cause the problem to worsen.
  • Having a history of scarring - People who have a history of either hypertrophic or keloid scarring can have a higher risk of developing abnormal scars after Renuvion treatment.
  • Having a severe skin disease - People who have eczema, dermatitis, or psoriasis are not ideal candidates for Renuvion treatment. This is because it could further worsen the condition and increase the risk of complications.
  • Being immunocompromised - People with weak immune systems, who have a condition like HIV, or are undergoing immunosuppressive therapy are not ideal candidates for Renuvion treatment.
  • Taking blood-thinning medication - People who are taking blood thinners or anticoagulants can have an increased risk of bleeding.

Dr. Epstein will carefully review your medical history as well as any treatments you are currently undergoing to ensure Renuvion is safe for you. If you are not considered a good candidate for Renuvion, Dr. Epstein can offer you safer alternatives to help you reach your aesthetic goals.

Is Renuvion Covered by Insurance?

No, Renuvion is not typically covered by health insurance. This is because Renuvion is a cosmetic procedure, not a medical one. However, it is possible that your insurance company provides coverage, so consult your insurance provider for verification.

How Much Does Renuvion Cost?

The cost of Renuvion also varies. The final cost depends on the location, the rates of the provider, the treatment area, and how extensive the procedure is. Dr. Epstein will give you an estimate during your consultation with him.
