Men are just as bothered by stubborn pockets of excess fat on the body as women. This is why liposuction continues to be the most popular surgical procedure in this country for men. However, though I use the 4D Vaser/PAL Hi-Definition Liposuction technique on all of my liposuction patients, my aesthetic approach for a male patient is not the same as the one I take for a female patient.
What is 360° Male Liposuction?
I am going to state the obvious, but men and women are built differently. Therefore, the aesthetic needs for my male patients are different. I always view any potential liposuction patient, regardless of gender, from a 360° or circumferential perspective. The reason for this is that all of the elements of your torso work together. So, though you may come in because you are bothered by that persistent bulge in your abdomen that won’t move no matter how many crunches you do, the flanks, abdomen and chest on a man are a team. If I only address your abdomen without looking at the other two, it’s analogous to only painting the front of your house.
Men Want a Triangular Torso
One of the hallmarks of a masculine physique is a triangular torso. This includes a broad, flat chest. One of the biggest problem areas for men when it comes to excess fat is the breasts. With age, many men develop a condition known as Gynecomastia which is an excess of fat and/or glandular tissue in the chest. For many, this is easily treated with liposuction. Men also tend to like a physique with more muscle definition. This is why I will often combine liposuction to the chest and/or abdomen with fat grafting to the pectoralis major. What I am doing is literally sculpting your torso, taking fat away from the areas where you don’t need it and placing into the areas where you do. The result is a slimmer, vital and more youthful looking you. And as we all know, when you look better, you feel more comfortable and confident in your skin.
Commonly Treated Areas for Liposuction in Men
While the abdomen is probably the number one reason why men come in to speak with me about liposuction, the other commonly treated areas for liposuction in men are:
- Abdomen
- Flanks
- Chest/Male Breasts
- Back
- Hips
- Neck
- Under the Chin
- Arms
- Thighs
The nice thing about liposuction is that while it is extremely effective at getting rid of those pockets of fat that are resistant to diet and exercise, it doesn’t require an enormous amount of downtime for recovery.
Liposuction Recovery
Men, in general, tend to prefer non-surgical procedures because they don’t want to deal with downtime. However, the recovery for a liposuction procedure is not that big of deal especially considering how much bang for your buck you get from the procedure. Though I will make a few incisions in the treatment area though which I place the cannula, they are small, typically requiring only 1-2 stitches. Furthermore, they tend to heal without leaving any telltale scar. The biggest bother for most liposuction patients is that you will need to wear a compression garment for several weeks. This is critical as it helps reduce swelling, improve healing and ensure an exemplary outcome. However, you will notice the improvement in your body contour immediately, and things will just continue to improve as all of the swelling subsides.
So, if you have some fat that is bothering you, come in and speak with me about 4D Vaser/PAL Hi-Definition Liposuction for Men. It is truly the gold standard when it comes to body contouring.
